Toward the tail end of April, Disney and Pixar Studios dropped the first trailer for their upcoming Cars 3, the long-awaited 3rd and final movie in the franchise.
Starring Owen Wilson as the voice of Lightning McQueen, the Rusteze world champion and general all-around face of animated racing cars is promising to keep on going until he can’t anymore.
And therein lies one of the main plot points in Cars 3; Lightning McQueen’s legacy.
A character based on a regular Nascar stock car, McQueen has shown time and again that he is a fighter who never gives in, but as it gets pointed out to him throughout the movie, he is a dated machine nowadays.
The main antagonist, Storm, boasts the fastest time on the circuit and is quoted as being faster than McQueen can ever be.
McQueen’s manager offers up a chance for McQueen to become infinitely more famous and richer than he currently is, including endless amounts of merchandising – kind of like in the real-world then.
McQueen’s manager quotes that the most important thing for the racer now is his legacy, which then stirs McQueen into stating how he will stop racing when he wants to.
However, as we just mentioned, McQueen is a dated vehicle now and the competition is newer and quicker.
So, to get up to speed – no pun intended – McQueen heads to the Rusteze training centre to learn some new-age techniques complete with a road simulator.
However, as McQueen has proven in the past 2 outings, there is no better training than to get out there and do it.
Can McQueen defeat the seemingly villainous “Storm” and cement his legacy, or will his last crash actually be his last?
We can probably guess the outcome seeing as how this is a Disney movie, but still, to find out for certain, we’ll have to wait until the movie comes out 14th of July.
Starring the vocal talents of Owen Wilson as Lightning McQeen, Larry the Cable Guy as Mater, Bonnie Hunt as Sally Carrera, Cheech Marin as Ramone, Cristela Alonzo as Cruz Ramirez, Paul Dooley as Sarge, Lloyd Sher as Fillmore, Michael Wallis as Sheriff, Kerry Washington as Natalie Certain, Nathan Fillion as Sterling, and Tony Shalhoub as Luigi, Cars 3 is the latest movie from the creators of Inside Out and Finding Dory, Disney and Pixar look to bring fans “one more dream” this July.
