On his 45th birthday (2nd May), Dwayne the Rock Johnson gave everybody a present on his Instagram site.

A recent post by the former WWE Champion revealed the Rock along with his co-star Jason Liles standing outside a large metallic cage, though only one of them were stood upright.

Liles, who Johnson confirmed is set to portray his best friend, an albino gorilla named George, is one of the three individuals bringing the monsters of acclaimed arcade game Rampage to life in the live-action movie.

In the post, The Rock spoke at length about the cast and crew he is working with, and had all of this to say;-

“In our story we have three animals (gorilla, crocodile and a wolf) who fall victim to evil genetic editing, rapidly changing every strand of their DNA so they grow, evolve and mutate.

Everything becomes amplified.. their size, strength, speed, agility.. and violent aggression.

One of the animals infected – a rare Albino gorilla named, George, is my best friend.

George is played by 6’9 @tallie7487, (Jason Liles, pictured above).

Jason has been studying gorillas for months now preparing for this motion capture role.

Gorilla movements, body language, and all emotions – joy, pain, sadness, love, aggression etc.

It’s insane when you get around this man and how he’s able to brilliantly embody a gorilla.

This is the most fascinating advanced VFX/motion cap process I’ve ever worked with in my career.

Incredible learning curve for me.

We have the best mo-cap team in the world (WETA Digital) working on our gigantic RAMPAGE MONSTERS and you’ll get a taste of this new technology in the upcoming WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES as well as James Cameron’s AVATARS.

With all the cool advanced technology in our movie, the #1 thing you’re gonna experience when you watch it, is FUN.”

Dwayne Johnson stars as Davis Okoye, the head of an anti-poaching unit in Rwanda who’s best friend is an albino gorilla named George, Rampage follows Davis as he goes on a rampage of his own trying to get justice for his friend as well as an alligator and a wolf who were infected by some “very bad people.”

Starring the aforementioned Dwayne Johnson and Jason Liles as well as Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Naomie Harris, Malin Akerman, Joe Manganiello, Jake Lacy, Marley Shelton, PJ Byrne, Jack Quaid, Matt Gerald, and Breanne Hill, Rampage is based off of a script written by Carlton Cuse and Ryan Condal, and is being directed by Brad Peyton, set to hit cinemas the 20th April, 2018.
