We’re a little over one month away from the filming of upcoming live-action Pokémon movie, Detective Pikachu, and currently, there’s only one known actor attached to the project.

Legendary‘s live-action adaptation has tapped Justice Smith for the lead role, as Variety reports.

Though, even with this piece of news, information is scarce as Smith doesn’t even have a role attached to his credits on IMDbthough it is rumoured he’ll play the role of Tim Goodman, Detective Pikachu’s partner/human sidekick.

The movie is expected to draw most of its inspiration from the Japanese 2016 point-and-click adventure game, Great Detective Pikachu.

Smith is coming off of Netflix’The Get Down, and he’s also set to appear in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the sequel to Jurassic World.

Whilst Detective Pikachu does not currently have a release date, Rob Letterman (of Goosebumps fame) is set to direct the movie, based on a screenplay by Alex Hirsch (Gravity Falls) and Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy). As is the case with many of Legendary‘s films, Universal Pictures is set to handle the distribution for Detective Pikachu outside of Japan, while The Pokémon Company‘s long-time movie collaborator Toho will distribute the movie in Japan itself.

Still no word yet on if Danny DeVito is set to voice Detective Pikachu, but here’s hoping!
