Set Photos Reveal Something About Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel

There’s not been a great deal of news coming out of Marvel StudiosCaptain Marvel – aside from the notable announcement that Jude Law is set to star as Mar-Vell, the movie has Tomb Raider writer Geneva Robertson-Dworet onboard, and Ben Mendelsohn is being circled for lead villain, of course.

Aside from all of that, there hasn’t been too much coming out of the studio, especially in terms of set photos.

Until now, that is.

Some recent set photos have circulated of Brie Larson preparing for her lead role, but visiting a US Air Force base to undergo some pilot training, and included in the mix has been a few leaked images from Avengers 4, which will also feature Larson.

The images, as seen in this Twitter post, shows Brie Larson on set in a green costume – which lead some fans to worry that Marvel Studios were taking some liberties with Captain Marvel.

However, it should be noted that this is more likely to be an actual Air Force base uniform, or, more likely, a Kree military uniform.

At last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios described how Captain Marvel will be set in the 1990s with Larson’s Carol Danvers wearing a costume that is said to be very similar to the one designed by comic book artist Jamie McKelvie. The primary antagonists will be the invading Skrulls, shape-shifting aliens who have been a major thorn in the sides of the comic book heroes collective sides for years now but have never been properly mentioned in the movies. Samuel L Jackson will also reprise his role as Nick Fury.

Captain Marvel is being directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck based off a screenplay by Geneva Robertson-Dworet and will star Brie Larson as Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers, Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury, Jude Law as Mar-Vell, and DeWanda Wise and Ben Mendelsohn in as-yet-untitled roles. The movie is scheduled for release on 8th March 2019.
