There have been widespread rumours surrounding the future of the DCEU‘s Batman, with Ben Affleck flip-flopping on his stance on continuing in the role and Jake Gyllenhaal being circled for his replacement.
However, apparently, even these replacement rumours are just as likely to be false, as Gyllenhaal himself has said he is not going for the role of Batman.
In a recent interview with CNA Lifestyle, Gyllenhaal was asked if he will don the cowl and take on the role.
The Oscar nominee laughed before saying; “Wow, that’s a very difficult question. The answer to that question is ‘no'”.
The saga surrounding Ben Affleck’s portrayal of Batman in the DCEU has been a tumultuous one to say the lease. Whilst he has already put in time as the World’s Greatest Detective in Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League, and a brief cameo in Suicide Squad, his future still remains unclear. He’s currently attached to play the role once again in the Matt Reeves-directed The Batman movie, although he was initially supposed to be attached to co-write and direct the flick as well as star in it.
As time moves forward, all will become clear, but as it currently stands, there’s a lot of uncertainty surrounding the Caped Crusader and his time in the DCEU. But who knows, we may find out sometime this year!
