It’s all hands on deck for Marvel Studios as, not even a week after the release of Avengers: Infinity War, the studio that brought the world the movie that brought us the biggest opening weekend ever, released a trailer for their next movie.
Following the events of the original movie, Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly reprise their roles as Scott Lang/Ant-Man and Hope van Dyne/The Wasp for Ant-Man and the Wasp.
And all is not as cosy as you may imagine for San Francisco’s resident size-altering heroes, as a new foe emerges to threaten everything van Dyne’s father worked so hard to create.
There’s the usual array of giant-and-micro-sized action as Ant-Man and the Wasp take it in turns to deliver blows of all sizes against thugs and the new foe, Hannah John-Kamen’s Ghost.
Ghost uses a form of the Pym Particles developed by Dr Henry “Hank” Pym (Michael Douglas) to alter her mass, allowing her to phase in and out of materials and become intangible.
Also, we get confirmation that Lawrence Fishburne (who plays Bill Foster in the movie) was once the giant-sized Goliath, a nod to Hank Pym’s comic book days after his time as Ant-Man. Plus, we get some truly great banter between Fishburne’s Foster and Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang involving discussing how…big they’ve managed to get.
How on Earth can anyone defeat somebody who can make themselves phase through walls? Time will tell, as Ant-Man and the Wasp fly into cinemas the 3rd August here in the UK, practically a month later than everywhere else.
Thanks, World Cup! Yay, football!
