The highly anticipated Netflix adaptation of The Witcher franchise has made (tentative) steps towards reality, by picking up two writers straight from the MCU.
Taking to Twitter, showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich announced the writer’s room for The Witcher, which will include former Jessica Jones writer Jenny Klein and Daredevil writer Sneha Koorse who have joined the team to develop the eight-episode first season.
“I can’t imagine a better day.
The #Witcher writers’ room opened today, and it was full of ideas and banter and cupcakes and creativity and darkness and champagne and this hilarious picture that’s better than any of the posed group selfies I attempted.
Of course, Hissrich was, herself, a writer on Daredevil and The Defenders series, has also brought The Worst Witch‘s Claire Higgins and The Originals‘ Declan de Barra onboard, as well as The Witcher creator Andrzej Sapkowski.
Sapkowski will serve as a creative consultant for Netflix, and the series is expected to begin filming on location in Eastern Europe as soon as the writing and casting have been finalised. With this new crop of writers announced, that date may be sooner than initially thought.
