The Stan Lee saga added yet more twists and turns recently, as the comic book icon was reportedly involved in an incident outside his home.
Two men were detained by the LAPD, one of whom had reportedly confronted Lee and demanded money.
A spokesperson for the LAPD said;
“Officers were called to a property on the 9100 block of Oriole Way at 7.30pm after reports of an assault. It was claimed that a suspect had a gun and was threatening.
Officers detained two individuals that matched the description and an investigation is ongoing.”
Strangely, the LAPD also noted that one (or both) of the men that were detained had been at Stan Lee’s home the previous day.
An eyewitness at the scene also claimed that the two men had a “confrontation with Lee outside his home.” Furthermore, Lee did not seem to know either of the men who demanded Lee paid them the money he owed.
Thankfully, Lee was with his lawyer, business partner, and nurse during the incident, and retreated into the house as soon as the men took out their weapons.
The police were called shortly thereafter.
Around 20 police officers showed up at the scene, with helicopters circling overhead. The two men were claimed to have thrown away their guns when the police arrived, with the officers retrieving the weapons later on.
It is not known if any arrests were made as the incident is still under investigation.
In support of Stan at, what must be, a very stressful time, fans sent their love to the Marvel legend via Twitter.
As Stan describes it, he received well over a million messages over the weekend – and joked that he only had time to read 900,000.
To thank his fans, Lee released a video to his Twitter page and has teased that a “big surprise” was coming for fans, which he’ll reveal in the very near future.
“I am seated here looking at your great messages and videos. I love you all. Keep them coming. And happy Saturday. Excelsior!”
In regard to the “big surprise”, Lee teased;
“I can’t tell ’em what it is now ’cause it wouldn’t be a surprise”
Whether this is something relating to Marvel Studios, Marvel Comics, or one of Lee’s other, various ventures remains to be seen.
