Whilst the movie may be a great fan-service to audiences around the world, the Han Solo movie is officially the worst performing Star Wars movie in the franchise’s history.
In fact, the fall-out from Solo: A Star Wars Story has been so bad, that Lucasfilm has, reportedly, decided to put all spin-off films on hold indefinitely.
Bad news for the rumoured Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi spin-off films.
As Collider reports, the studio will, instead, be focusing all of their efforts on Episode IX – due out in cinemas December 2019. After Episode IX is out, the studio will then consider going on with the next trilogy of movies will be, and if the potential spin-offs will ever actually happen.
The series of films set to be developed by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss (of Game of Thrones fame) is still set to be released at a later date.
Whether we see another anthology movie, such as Rogue One and Solo, remains to be seen. But, maybe, after a bit of time to recoup, the magic will return to the franchise.
