The fall-out following Infinity War is still being felt in the world of Marvel Studios, with no-one knowing what will happen when the highly anticipated Avengers 4 comes out.
Owing to the nature of what the fourth instalment in the franchise will bring to the table, Kevin Feige and co. have been very tight-lipped about the project – hence why it is still tentatively referred to as simply ‘Avengers 4‘.
However, a new leak may have given the film’s title away.
Trent Opaloch, a Marvel veteran cinematographer who has worked on The Winter Soldier, Civil War, and Infinity War, updated his website and accidentally shared a little more than he probably should have done.
Opaloch posted the latest movie he is working on – the upcoming Avengers 4 – was subtitled End Game.
The post, which has since been updated to read simply “Avengers 4” – may have given the game away for Marvel (no pun intended). However, it should be noted that this has not been confirmed by the studio yet.
Therefore, this may have just acted as a placeholder for the project until Marvel confirms the title, which Feige says will be revealed “close to Captain Marvel‘s release”. That being said, if it were just a placeholder, then why would Opaloch quickly replace the title? Hmm…
To go along with this potential leak, a few pieces of concept art have made their way onto the internet, including some potential promo pieces for Avengers 4.
The images, posted to Twitter by AJ Designs, feature the cast of the Avengers – Thor, Hulk, Captain America, Iron-Man, Black Widow, and the returning Hawkeye – alongside Ant-Man, Nebula, Captain Marvel, and Rocket Raccoon, who, following the events of Infinity War, will be a part of the new Avengers team tasked with bringing done Thanos once and for all.
All of the Avengers are seen sporting new costumes, with Captain America donning the blue, white, and red costume he’s famous for, and the Hulk wearing a full body armour suit. Black Widow appears to have gone back to her red-hair as well, meaning the team no longer have to hide from the authorities following the outcome of Civil War.
Again, all of these are merely early concept pieces and will not, necessarily, reflect the final movie. Until we see something straight from Marvel themselves, all of this should be taken with a pinch of salt.
It does help get you excited though, doesn’t it?
Avengers 4 will likely hit cinemas 26th April 2019 here in the UK, with the likes of Josh Brolin, Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Paul Rudd, Karen Gillen, Evangeline Lilly, and Bradley Cooper reprising their roles from previous Marvel movies.
As Avengers 4 may see the end for the core Avengers team (all of the original six actors’ contracts expire following that movie), the state of the MCU will be dramatically altered going forward. And, with Feige saying how the likes of Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel will be the “new face of the MCU“, there’s still plenty left for the studio to accomplish.
