Michael B Jordan and Chris Evans have (at least) two things in common;

They both appeared in a Fantastic Four film as the Human Torch, and they are now both a part of the MCU.

And, when you consider how poorly received both iterations of the Fantastic Four films were, you’d consider it a small piece of justice that the two actors have found a new home with Marvel.

Now though, another Fantastic Four alum is looking for this redemption courtesy of Marvel; none other than Mister Fantastic himself, Ioan Gruffudd.

Speaking with Digital SpyGruffudd, who played Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic in the 2005 Fantastic Four movie and its 2007 sequel, was asked if he would be interested in another shot at a Marvel role like his contemporaries.

“I would love that,” Gruffudd revealed. “I just don’t know, in that universe, the Marvel world, would they let me play something else?

I’m so renowned for Fantastic Four. But a couple of actors have [made the leap].

I’m sure for Marvel it was a tough decision to pick Chris [Evans] to play that part [Captain America] because he’d already played one superhero, but what a brilliant decision it was because he’s wonderful.

And Michael B Jordan has played Johnny Storm and he’s amazing in Black Panther as well, so there are precedents set. So we’ll see.

Maybe [I could play] a baddie, this time? Now that I’ve established myself as somebody who can do that, that would be great.”

Gruffudd was, of course, referring to his role as series antagonist Andrew Earlham in ITV‘s Liar. Now, whilst there isn’t anything on the cards involving Gruffudd just yet, there are a lot of Marvel movies slated for release within the next five years, and they’ll need just as many actors and actresses to fill those roles. including the odd villain or two. So, there’s hope for Gruffudd yet.
